Lady Knight Volleyball continues win streak

The girls varsity volleyball team won the match versus Collegedale Academy 3-1 to improve their overall record to 12-5 and a two game win streak.  The final game of the regular season is at home versus Lancaster Christian Academy on Tuesday, October 20th at 6pm.

Boys cross country team competes at Curry Ingram

The boys cross country team had more than four participating in the event so we placed sixth as a school.  Here are their results.  Ian finished 16th overall.

SA Fall Ball has patriotic theme

The annual Student Association Fall ball was held at Mr. and Mrs. Sutherland’s home, starting at 6pm.  Students and staff were asked to dress up in their favorite patriotic–red, white and blue clothing.  Two weeks prior to this event SA officers passed out tickets to the ladies — giving them a chance to ask a friend to the Fall Ball.  Transportation and directions were provided.  The evening began with students throwing darts at balloons filled with paint.  While that was happening, others were taking pictures with friends by an American flag.  For supper students ate hot dogs, chips and baked beans. Apple crisp was for dessert.  Everyone chose either water or root beer as their beverage.  Later in the evening was a pumpkin carving contest as well as an award for best dressed.  The evening ended with sparklers and fireworks.

Lady Knights lose to USN

The varsity girls volleyball team had their five game win streak come to an end.  USN won the match in three games.  The girls overall record falls to 9-5.  The Lady Knights will try to start a new winning streak at their next game here at home against Christian Community High School starting at 5:30.

MGM trip announced

We are excited to announce that we will be heading to La Vida Mission in Farmington, NM for our spring MGM trip this year!!!  La Vida is a Navajo SDA Mission which includes a K-12 school, a church and a medical clinic.  Our main purpose is to restore and update the medical clinic which has not been functional for the past few years.  This will include redoing the flooring, tile work, painting, and other jobs around the clinic.  They have also asked if we have any medical professionals to come along and host a medical clinic, especially dentistry, but all medical care is needed.  LLU sends a group out there once a year and that is usually all the medical attention most of these people receive.

We would love to have as many students, staff and parents as possible.

Here are the details: Cost: $900(approx.)  We need $200 of the total $900 up front to secure your spot. When: Spring break-Tentative dates are March 7-15. *No passport, shots, visas required!  If you have any other questions, please email me.

Three compete in cross country meet

Monday, three boys from Madison Academy competed in the cross country event at Curry Ingram. Ian Peterson’s time was 19:49, Ben Shepherd ran the race in 24:27, while Jordan Kittles finished with a time of 25:16.  Four team members are needed to compete as a team so at this competition out team ran as individuals.

Girls Volleyball continues winning ways

In a home game, the Madison Academy varsity girls volleyball team defeated McClain Christian 3-0 to win the match that was played last night.  The lady knights are 9-4 this year and have a five game win streak.  Their next opponent is USN.  This is an away game.

Juniors enjoy History/English tour to east coast

The annual History/English educational tour for juniors returned safely early Friday morning.  Students went to Gettysburg, Washington DC and Williamsburg, Virginia.  At Gettysburg students toured the battlefield with Mr. Ram sharing stories and details of the three day battle then traveled to Washington DC and explored the International Spy Museum and ate supper at Union Station.  That evening, students took a walking tour of the FDR, MLK, Lincoln, Korean War and Vietnam War memorials.  The next day students spent time in the Newseum–a six level museum dedicated to print and broadcast journalism and news reporting.  The afternoon was free time for students to explore one of the many museums in the area: the American History Museum, Natural History Museum, National Gallery of Art, the Air & Space Museum or the National Archives.  Next was a trip to Arlington National Cemetery where Mr. Ram’s friend and former student, Daryl Willard, who is a former Tomb Guard and currently stationed at the Pentagon, gave a guided tour.  The evening plan was to attend a professional baseball game: Orioles vs Nationals, however the game was rained out.  On Tuesday the tour headed to Pamplin Historical Park in Virginia where students engaged in a four hour experience that included some hands-on activities as part of the “soldiers life” battlefield exhibit.  The next two days started and finished in the historical triangle: Jamestown, Yorktown and Williamsburg.  After exploring colonial Williamsburg, students went to Norfolk and toured the USS Wisconsin battleship.  As luck would have it the rained out baseball game was rescheduled for Thursday afternoon so everyone was happy to return to DC and watch the Nationals play the Orioles.  The Orioles won.  After the game everyone loaded onto the bus for the trip back to Madison Academy.
