Alumni return to Madison Academy to reminisce, reconnect and reinvest

The first event of the weekend was a golf tournament held at Country Hills Golf Course in Hendersonville.  The weather was excellent with sunny skies and the temperature a balmy 83 degrees.  Registration was at 7 am with the shot gun start at 8am. There were prizes given for the closest to the hole, putting, and longest drive. The fundraiser raised over $12,000!

In the evening starting at 6 pm, the remodeled Learning Commons was a place for alumni to eat some light snacks and get caught up with classmates.  The classes of 1966 showed up in droves and also set up a lovely memorial for their classmates who have passed.

Sabbath was the highlight of the weekend as more classmates and friends worshiped together in the gym. The gym was bustling early with chatter and laughing. The hand bell choir, Bellissimo!, started the program with a lovely rendition of “How Great Thou Art”. The program continued featuring the Madison Academy band, choir and alumni choir. One alumni choir member, from the class of 1965, whispered on his way up to the stage that the true reason why he joined the choir was to be able to sit with the girls on the bus and they traveled to different churches!

Instead of one main sermon we had three sermonettes featuring Sarah Hamm Cruzado (’06), Mary Wood (’56) and Jackson Wood (’17), and Rodney (’89) Stephanie (’91) and Parker Rufo (2020). These small messages shared a personal testimony of how they were influenced by Madison Academy for Christ.

Next year alumni weekend will be held on October 6-8. Save the dates! We will be celebrating our honor classes ending in ‘2 and ‘7.
