Appalachia Outreach 2009 2010 Outreach Trip Oct. 17-21
Appalachian Outreach 2009 VideoFor twenty one years, Madison Academy has been sponsoring a special outreach and service program focused on serving the needs of people living in the Appalachian region of Kentucky. This year, 130 students and sponsors from Madison Academy, Georgia-Cumberland Academy in Georgia, and Meadow Glade SDA Church in Washington, converged on the Galilean Home in Kentucky and worked for three days on nine separate projects in the area surronding the home. Thirty-five Madison Academy students participated this year in a variety of areas, including painting a home, installing siding, building a shed, building a deck, laying a flor, and adding on to a church building. Some students served by providing a VBS program for local children at the Galilean Home. These photographs are a graphic demonstration of the power of God working through young people to bless the lives of others. This annual project is a core component of Madison Academy's mission-focused, service-oriented, approach to education. Students are energized by their involvement in improving the lives and circumstances of people with specific material needs, and they learn some valuable skills in the process.
