They will go to the National Association of Christian Athletes [NACA] Volleyball & Soccer Tournament held each year in  Dayton, TN.  The girls volleyball team will participate as well.  This year’s tournament is scheduled to be played October 28-30, 2015.

Saturday, August 15 at 8:00 PM is our 30th annual SA Scavenger Hunt, a hilarious class competition event which supplies fun for the whole family. Parents count for DOUBLE Spirit Trophy points. Wear your running shoes and bring a box of “junk.”

Sunday, August 16 begins our SA Fall Picnic at Indian Creek Camp. We leave the school at 3:30 PM and return on Monday by 5:30 PM. This overnight, action-packed excursion continues to be a student favorite! Click here for a permission slip.

Registration is online

We hope you have all enjoyed a wonderful summer and have taken time to relax a bit during the break from school. The 2015-2016 school year is right around the corner, and we are ready!!

Registration was completed almost entirely online and thus there is no official “day” to register. Anyone who has not yet completed online enrollment, scheduled classes, or finalized a financial plan, is encouraged to make an appointment with the Registrar and/or Business Manager, respectively. Please take steps to do this the weeks of July 20-31! August gets extremely busy and we would like to be able to give you our full attention.

On our website is copy of this year’s Student Supply List. If you have questions about your classes, please call the Registrar’s office and we will help clarify. Educational Outfitters, our school uniform company, is open Monday – Friday from 10AM to 6 PM. They will also be open on Sunday, August 9 from 1-6 PM for tax-free weekend. Here is copy of the MA Dress Code which includes the address, phone number, and clothing website. The consignment sale was a success, and only a few items remain. If you are still interested in looking, drop by the school office.

Tuesday, August 11 is the first day of school!!! We have a special schedule for the first two days which includes lots of fun. Returning students are done at 11:40 AM on Tuesday. All new students will join the SA officers, faculty, and staff for lunch and an afternoon of bowling.  Our new students can bring a change of clothes (but remember: no skinny jeans and girl’s shorts need a 5″ inseam). The following day, Wednesday, is a full day of school, but the afternoon includes a wet-n-wild SA Icebreaker. Remember to bring clothes to change into so you can get wet! Refer to the attached schedule and call, email, or drop-by if you have any questions.

These games are like football scrimmages where players can work on their skills in a game situation.

Games today start at 12 noon at Madison Academy and 2pm at Madison Campus Elementary.  The Varsity team plays at noon, 2pm, 3pm and 8pm(MCE).  The JV team plays at 1pm, 2pm(MCE), 5pm and 7pm.  Here is a revised schedule for today’s matches. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children 6 and older.  Concessions are available at both gymnasiums.

Faculty return from summer vacation

All the teachers and support staff report back to school on Monday, August 3rd and will participate in professional learning communities, and are preparing their classrooms for students and the beginning of school on Tuesday, August 11th.  Mrs. Diana Hardin is our new English teacher this year.  Mrs. Hardin has taught at the middle school, high school and college levels.  She is married to Tom and they have two children that both will be attending Madison. The Hardin family moved from Texas, however they lived in the Madison area and so are familiar with the school and Middle Tennessee.

For a change of pace this summer Mr. Harvey again worked as the scientist at Indian Creek Camp engaging campers with fun science experiences.  Mr. Ramkissoon moved his classroom to where Mrs. Gatling taught last year but was able to relax and a baseball game at Turner Field between the Braves and the Cubs.  The Cubs won.  Mr. McKenzie worked all summer and also moved his classroom to where Mr. Ramkissoon was last year.  He is excited about the 3-D printer his has installed in the computer lab.  Mr. Hamberger went to a conference in Arizona to learn about a new product named Naviance that students will be using this year to help transition from elementary to college and career choices.  The program help students identify students strengths and passions.  Next those passions are linked to a career using Road Nation, video segements of people in careers telling their stories on how they arrived at that job.  After viewing the Roadtrip Nation students will be asked to choose a college major and plan a roadtrip of there own.  Students will be able to access a wealth of information including admissions policies and costs on all United States community colleges as well as universities.  Parents will also have access to this information.

Everyone is excited to start another school year and are looking forward to the start of school and seeing the students.

Madison Academy Play Day starts today
