Students of Madison Academy shared their gifts at Madison Campus Church by giving the entire church service. Three students delivered the sermon on the wise men’s journey to find the baby: Christiana Mercado-Inspired Seeker, Symone Stewart-Empowered Scholar and Jake Johnson-Devoted Servant. The music was provided by the band and the Madisonians, the choir and Praise team. Osiris Garcia, Jackson Wood, and Donovan Allen played the piano. “Toccata in D Minor” was played on the organ by Donovan.

On Sunday, March 6th, the choir under the direction of Mr. Waldemar Wensell, and several adult sponsors are traveling to Rome, Italy to perform, and sight see. The choir members and parents raised funds all year long by organizing bake sales, serving school lunch and working with local businesses like Panera Bread and Baskin and Robbins Ice Cream to donate a portion of the cash receipts to this trip. The choir will perform four times during the week at Seventh-day Adventist Churches in the area. When the choir is not singing, they will tour with Mr. Kevin Ramkissoon, our history teacher, as they explore the Colosseum and Roman Forum, the Vatican Museums (Sistine Chapel), Trevi Fountains and other sites.
Leaving Tuesday morning is the Drama team, lead by Mr. DJ McKenzie to the Washington, DC area. The team will give performances for students at Spencerville Adventist Academy and Takoma Adventist Academy as well as providing the worship service at Beltsville SDA Church. Team members and sponsors will have time to sight-see in the nation’s capital and enjoy the Smithsonian museums and other attractions.
The 22 member choir, under the direction of Waldemar Wensell, performed at the Bordeaux SDA church this past Sabbath. Dan Johnson gave the sermon. This is the last performance before their concert tour to Italy.
The biannual choir trip is planned for Italy this year. To help raise funds for the trip moms have organized bake sales on Fridays after school, recently prepared and managed a yard sale at the Larkin Springs Medical Center. and on Thursday, November 12th, from 4-8pm partnered with Panera Bread to earn up to 20% of of net sales from redeemed flyers. Here is the flyer. Also on the same evening and for the same cause the MA moms have partnered with Baskin Robbins.
Baskin Robbins will donate 15% of all sales that they make after 4:00 on the 12th. No flyers required. We are encouraged to have kids outside bringing any and everyone in that they see. Baskin Robbins will be decorating their store in MA colors and will have a table for us to use to display information about MA to our community. Mrs. Fuentes, principal and MA staff will take turns serving ice cream behind the counter.
