Soccer team continues winning ways

Last night the Madison Academy soccer team competed with Dayspring Academy and won 5-0.  The first half was scoreless but in the second half the team scored five goals.  It was also a special night because it was Senior night.  Jordan Kittles, Ben Shepherd, Alex Watson, and Moises Canas played their last home game.  At half-time the senior players gave their parents roses and thanked them for their love and support.

Last week the soccer team played Lancaster both at their field and here at home.  At Lancaster the score was 9-1 and here at home it was 8-0.  The teams overall record is now 7-2-2.  The next game is tonight at 7:00pm against Merrol Hyde Magnet School.

In tennis news from last Monday the tennis team beat McClain 7-1.  Their next event is today and competing against Dayspring Academy.  The golf team has an event today as well.  They play Middle Tennessee Heat at Riverside Golf Course.

Soccer, Tennis and Golf teams played

In the soccer match yesterday competing with McGavok JV the Madison Academy varsity team won 4-1.  This brings their overall record to 2-2-2.  The next game is here at home against West Academy on Friday, April 8.  Game time is 4:30.

Also the school’s first golf match was played yesterday at Riverside Golf Course with Franklin Classical.  Joshua Hardin, Nathan Johnson, Donnie Underwood, Sean Moore, Lucas Monroe, Alex Overstreet and Zachary Levinskas all had matches.  On the girls side Kristin Levinskas and Parker Luellen played.  The event was shortened by the rain and thunderstorms that moved into the area.  Scoring was the top 4 scores for the first 5 holes played for boys (since a regular 9 holes was not completed).  Girl’s scores only had 4 holes counted as they did not finish the 5th hole.

Madison adds golf to menu of sports options

Madison Academy is adding golf as a sport to its interscholastic sports program.  The season will play out in the fall and spring.  Coach Perkins from Madison Campus Elementary is leading out with this team.  Tryouts are Wednesday, August 19th at 4:30pm at the Riverside Golf Course.

In other Madison Academy sports news the cross country team is forming and has began to practice.  There is a parent meeting for Golf, Cross Country and Fall Soccer on Monday, August 17 in the library at 6pm. Coaches will provide information about the sports and their seasons and paperwork for parents to sign if their child is interested.

The soccer team is scheduling a few games in the fall so that the team can experience tournament play. They will go to the National Association of Christian Athletes [NACA] Volleyball & Soccer Tournament held each year in  Dayton, TN.  The girls volleyball team will participate as well.  This year’s tournament is scheduled to be played October 28-30, 2015.
