Facelift coming soon

The Learning Complex which houses six classrooms, fine arts, fitness room, gymnasium, and lunch room will get a much needed facelift in the next two months.  Funds raised and matched in December will be used to re-sheet the metal siding, replace the awnings, paint the trim, and add some exterior lighting.

In addition, a generous donor is providing for the installation of new energy efficient lighting inside the gymnasium.  Volleyball players in the community will be glad to know we will eliminate the bright spots and dark corners.  The savings on our NES bill will help the operating budget, too.

In coming months, the Academy will be working with an agency to develop a Master Plan for campus facilities and property.  Your prayers in this process are truly appreciated.  In the meantime, we must maintain and protect the physical assets we have.  Thank you to the many donors who are helping ensure we can!

Late night Volleyball hosted by Student Association

Twenty three teams from across the mid-state participated in the annual late night volleyball tournament.  With so many teams this year the squads were randomly placed in the double elimination brackets.  The games started around 6:30pm and ended the next morning around 5am. Volleyball teams of all ages — elementary age to those eligible for AARP cards — were submitted to the Student Association sponsors.  Each played with a minimum of six players: four guys and two girls. When teams were not playing players took the responsibilities of referee and line judge.  For community members that came to watch the teams compete there were concessions available most of the night.  Here is a picture of the winning team.

Madison Academy student’s place in Neely’s Bend Fun Run

“Pace” Fordham finished 1st in the 5K Neely’s Bend Fun Run in the men’s division while Ashley Peterson and Abigail Anderson finished 1st and 2nd respectively in the women’s division. In the 10K our own Mr. Garen Carter finished 2nd for the second year in a row. There were over 350 participants that ran or walked in this event. Mrs. Vicki and Will Anderson, Kristin Fulton organized this event and a host of volunteers helped participants park, register, carb up and hydrate in order to achieve their goals. Many Madison Academy students and staff either volunteered or ran in the race. Both Madison Campus Elementary and Madison Academy Athletics received monies in support of their programs.
