Basketball pre-season starts with Jamboree

Mrs. Fuentes announced today in chapel that the boys team finished in 3rd place overall and the girls team finished 2nd.  The Jamboree at Collegedale Academy hosts several teams over a weekend and teams play in the Collegedale Academy gym.  Two games are played Saturday night and another two games are played on Sunday morning. This year the Jamboree included Collegedale varsity and jv teams, Madison Academy varsity and Georgia Cumberland Academy varsity.

The girls team won three games and played in the championship however they lost to Collegedale girls varsity.  The boys played won each time they played the Collegedale jv team but fell to the varsity teams.

The regular season games begin at MCE at 6:00pm and 7:30pm with the girls and boys varsity teams respectively.  They will compete with Aaron Academy.  Last year the teams met once here on campus.  The girls won their game and the guys lost theirs.

Night for Knights celebrates athletes

Parents, volunteers, staff and students came together to celebrate those students that in addition to academic work participated in one or more of Madison Academy’s interscholastic sports programs.  Each athlete was awarded a participation medallion.  Coaches Adams, Perkins, Ley and Canas along with Assistant coaches Sonja Underwood and Gabriel Ortiz presented trophies to the athletes they coached.

The two standouts in Cross country were Rosie Benoit and Ian Petersen.  Nathan Johnson made the regionals cut on our swim team.

For the JV girls volleyball the Knight award went to Brianna Burks, the most improved to Julianne Plank, best defensive player Jordan R. Brown, best offensive player Camden Armstrong and MVP was Holly Hardin.  For the varsity girls volleyball team the Knight award went to Christina Mercado, most improved Avery Kroll, Coaches awards to Brianna Underwood and Abigail Anderson with MVP hardware to Morgan Currie.

For the JV boys basketball the Knight award went to Zachary Levinskas, most improved to Jackson Webb, coaches award to Beau Rodrigquez and Joshua Hardin with MVP award going to Ian Petersen.  For the varsity boys basketball team the Knight award was given to Ben Shepherd, most improved to Langston Martinez, coaches award went to Nathan Johnson and Tony Adalla with MVP going to Tyrell Gentle.  The girls varsity basketball team also was recognized.  The Knight award went to Julianne Plank, most improved Jordan Walker, coaches awards went to Sara Adalla, Brianna Underwood and Abigail Anderson with MVP honors awards to Morgan Currie.

Golf and tennis were new additions to the athletic mix this year at Madison Academy.  Out top golf players were Kristina Levinskas and Joshua Hardin. In tennis the Knight award was given to Jackson Webb, the most improved to Osiris Garcia and Jackson Webb.  The top performers were Camden Armstrong and Nathan Johnson.

In soccer the Knight award went to Moises Canas, most improved to Brianna Underwood and Jordan Kittles.  The coaches awards went to Alex Watson, Cy Durias, Tyrell Gentle, Mike Downs and Morgan Currie with MVP honors awarded to Moises Canas

The athlete of the year are Morgan Currie and Tyrell Gentle.

The evening was enhanced even more with food and decorations organized by Mrs. Vicki Anderson.

Nine Madison Academy basketball players selected as TNCAA All-Stars

Today before worship, Coach Perkins and Coach Adams announced to the school the players selected as TNCAA All-Stars.  For the Lady Knights it was Abigail Anderson, Morgan Currie, Cyrah Laird, Sydney Jacobs and Sara Adalla.  For the Knights Tony Adalla, Tyrell Gentle, Nathan Johnson and Ben Shepherd II were chosen for this honor.  The game featuring the All-Stars from each school will be held at Sumner Academy, tonight February 29, starting at 6:30pm.

Some additional recognition/awards were given at the All-Star game.  Cyrah Laid won 1st place in the skills contest.  Sydney Jacobs won 1st place in the 3-point shot contest.  Morgan Currie won Tournament MVP.

Lady Knights win TNCAA Championship game

The Lady Knights defeated West Academy 52-12 in the championship basketball game of the TNCAA Tournament.  Morgan Currie scored 15 points and Abigail Anderson 12 points.  Six other players scored during the game with Sydney Jacobs hitting two 3-point shots.

Recapping the basketball season the girls varsity team participated in five tournaments this year: TNCAA Pre-season, Collegedale Academy Invitational, Madison Academy Holiday Tournament, AU and TNCAA Post-season.  The team won three championships and placed third at the Andrews University Tournament.  They finished their regular season with a 16-5 record and a tournament record of 14-3.

The Knights finished in 2nd place in the TNCAA Tournament losing to Lancaster Christian Academy 73-43.  The boys varsity played in four tournaments: Collegedale Academy Invitational, Madison Academy Holiday Tournament, AU and TNCAA Post-season and finished with a 5-10 record. The Knights regular season record stands at 8-10.

Knights win 1st game of TNCAA Tournament

The Lady Knights played Lancaster Christian Academy in the first round of the Tennessee Christian Athletics Association tournament held at Dayspring Academy.  The girls varsity team won 65-7 and advance to the championship game tonight.

The Knights played Dayspring Academy in their first round game and won 71-45.  They will play in the championship game tonight also.

Knights win two at Western Kentucky

In the final game of the regular season the Lady Knights won their game 52-4 playing against Western Kentucky.  This improves the overall regular season team record to 16-5.  The Knights won the night cap 67-57.  Their overall regular season team record finished at 8-10.

Both varsity basketball teams will compete in the Tennessee Christian Athletic Associations (TNCAA) Post season tournament, February 22-23.  The girls games are at Dayspring Academy and the guys games are Lancaster.

TNCAA holds Finals Basketball Tournament and later an All-Star game

The Tennessee Christian Athletic Association (TNCAA) is planning a final basketball season tournament. The high school girls varsity teams will play their tournament games at Dayspring Academy (2838 Height Cir Dr, Greenbrier, TN 37073). Four teams square off on Monday, February 22.  The Lady Knight start at 6:30pm and play Lancaster.  The winner will advance to the championship game played the next day at 6:30pm.

The high school boys varsity teams will play their tournament games at Lancaster Christian Academy (150 Soccer Way, Smyrna, TN 37167).  The Knights will face Dayspring at 6:30pm. The winner will advance to the championship game played the next day. Game time is 6:30pm.

Also the TNCAA, is hosting its first ever basketball All-Star game at Sumner Academy on February 29. The Middle School game is at 4pm.  There is a 3pt contest and skills competition at 5pm with the high school All-Star game beginning at 6:30pm.  All these events are at Sumner Academy.  The participants will be selected this Friday by the league. Two or three players will be selected from each team.

Madison travels to Andrews University for Newmyer Classic

The members of the basketball girls and boys varsity as well as the boys junior varsity team traveled to Berrien Springs, Michigan to participate in the Newmyer Classic basketball tournament held at Andrews University. Here is the schedule to determine seeding:

Madison Academy win two competing with Dayspring Academy

The Lady Knights won their game 54-23 and improved their team overall record to 15-5.  The Knights in the late game also won 57-54 playing against Dayspring Academy.  Both the varsity girls and guys teams as well as the boys jv team will participate in the Andrews University Newmyer Classic February 4-6.

Last home game for basketball team — Senior Knight

Come and see the last home game of the season for the boys varsity basketball team and the girls varsity team as they compete against Dayspring Academy.  The girls game starts at 6pm and the guys at 7:30.  The next day both teams leave campus and travel to Andrews University in Berrien Spring, Michigan to play in the Tournament.  Last year both teams won their divisions.
